The closing date for submissions to the British Safety Council’s annual International Safety Awards is fast approaching

Organisations from the UK and around the world have until 9 February to apply for an award, which recognise excellence in health, safety and wellbeing management at a particular site or business unit. Last year a record number of organisations around the world achieved one.

Mike Robinson, British Safety Council chief executive, said, “We know it takes commitment, hard work and dedication to improve the health, safety and wellbeing culture within an organisation. That’s why the International Safety Awards are recognised globally as a marker of success.

“Receiving an International Safety Award not only gives you the recognition you deserve, it can also help you win new clients, partners and business opportunities and demonstrates your commitment to excellent health, safety and wellbeing standards.”

On applying for an overall International Safety Award, there are a number of other categories which organisations will be entered into, from 'best in class', to industry sector, as well as seven other awards. These include the CEO Award, which recognises the leadership and strategic vision of CEOs who have made a vital contribution to the health, safety and wellbeing of their business and to the wider society during 2023, the Health Safety and Wellbeing Ambassador of the Year Award and a Team of the Year award.

Record number of winners

Last year a record 773 organisations received an International Safety Award, with 138 of these achieving a Distinction and 298 a merit. Winners included organisations of all sizes, types and sectors, in the UK, Africa, Asia, India, mainland Europe and the Middle East. Winners in the Middle East included Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, Milaha, Khalifa University, Qatar Gas Transport Company and AG PCS Switchgear.

All applicants are invited to celebrate their success at the International Safety Awards Gala Dinner in June.
