Dubai Police and DP World UAE Region have signed an MoU to enhance safety and security cooperation at Jebel Ali Port and surrounding industrial areas to enable the unobstructed flow of trade through the largest seaport in the Middle East

The agreement includes measures aimed at reducing accidents and tackling congestion on roads leading to and from Jebel Ali Port and Jebel Ali Freezone.

The MoU was signed by Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, group chairman and CEO, DP World UAE Region, and Maj Gen Khamis Matar Al Muzainah, commandant general, Dubai Police, during a ceremony in Jebel Ali.

According to sources, cooperation will also see new ways to exchange information and use of Jebel Ali Port’s logistical and security support systems such as its helipad and CCTV archives, further added the statement.

Joint workshops, training programmes, emergency response drills and traffic awareness campaigns also feature in the agreement, it stated.

Al Muzainah said, “DP World and its flagship Jebel Ali Port is a hub of regional trade and the world class infrastructure plays an important role in attracting businesses from around the world.

“The agreement aims to enhance joint security action in this important pillar of Dubai’s economy benefitting the companies and organisations that use its services,” he said.

Bin Sulayem added that building a safe, secure and resilient port community is part of our commitment to customers and port users.

“Dubai Police are one of the most professional security forces and our strategic partnership with them will raise efficiency at our facilities for the benefit of the business community,” he noted.
