The conference, which will focus on targeted cyber attacks, will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 1-3 May 2018

Companies small and big have been facing an increasing number of cyber attacks, leaving sensitive data open to misuse by hackers.

Cybersecurity specialist Hany George will give a talk and demonstrate live hacks to show how hackers tend to attack organisations.

According to the company’s recent quarterly Email Security Risk Assessment (ESRA) report, current email security systems were insufficient against known malware and impersonation attacks.

The report said that such attacks had risen 22 per cent quarter over quarter to 23,072.

The company will be launching upgrades to its Targeted Threat Protection services - Impersonation Protect, URL Protect, and Internal Email Protect services.

“A defence-only security strategy does not protect against the level and volume of advanced attacks that lead to financial and intellectual property loss, unplanned downtime and decreased productivity,” said Brandon Bekker, managing director at Mimecast MEA.

“We encourage our customers to embrace a cyber resilience for email strategy that empowers them to secure, preserve and continue the flow of information via email. Despite investments in defence, attackers continue to innovate, developing advanced email-borne threats that are no match for defence systems. Mimecast will use the region’s largest security conference to educate IT decision makers about the need to provide comprehensive security controls before, continuity during, and automated recovery after an attack,” Bekker said.
